Berwickshire Dive Tourism Association will host ‘Dive Week 2008’, an action packed week of diving and underwater related activities that promises to provide something for everyone. The event will run from 25th until 29th August and will cover a range of individual events organised and hosted by member businesses in Eyemouth, Coldingham and St Abbs.

 

MONDAY 25th

Kids Snorkelling/Sea Scooters

Time: 11am – 12noon

Venue: Eyemouth Leisure Centre

Cost: £2.00 juniors, £3.00 adults

Description: Sea Scooter and Kid’s Snorkelling Sessions at Eyemouth Leisure Centre, bring along swimming gear to take part in the fun! Please note participants must be over 8 years of age or be accompanied by an adult (and preferably be able to swim 25 metres in a reasonable style). Please phone or pop into the Centre to book your place prior to the event.

 

Glass Bottom Boat Trip

Time: From 12 noon on the hour (each trip lasts approx. 1 hour)

Venue: Glass Bottom Boat leaving from St Abbs

Cost: £8 per adult, £5 per child

Description: Glass bottom boat trip and nature watch to search for whales, seals, dolphins and any other creatures out in the seas nearby to St Abbs. (Weather dependent, 12 people per trip)

 

Eyemouth Museum Tour

Time: Starting at 2pm

Venue: Eyemouth Museum

Cost: Free with a donation to the BDTA / Museum

De scri ption: Experience a guided tour of Eyemouth Museum which will provide local knowledge of exhibits and the history of the town, withreference to the great fishing disaster of 1881, known to locals as ‘Black Friday’. A photographic exhibition entitled ‘Memories Revisited’ will also be on view in the upstairs gallery.

 

‘Our Underwater World’

Time: 7.30pm

Cost: £2.50 per person

TUESDAY 26th

Swimming with Seals

Time: 10am - 12

Venue: Return trip on North Star Boat, Eyemouth to Burnmouth

Cost: £7 per person

Contact: Iain Easingwood, 01890 752444.

Description: Travel on North Star to Burnmouth seal colony. Snorkelling equipment, wetsuits etc will be provided. PADI Divemasters will supervise while in the water. Tea and Coffee will be provided and a hot shower is available afterwards on return to Eyemouth!!

Description: Ticket price includes children’s meal, drink and ice-cream. There will be a movie showing of Disney’s ‘Finding Nemo’, (movie commencing at 4.30pm). Film Certificate U. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Seashore Safari

Time: 6.15pm – 7.45pm

Venue: Coldingham Sands

Cost: £2.50 Adults, £1.50 Children

Description: Come and discover the weird and wonderful watery wildlife to be found in the rock pools of Scotland’s only Marine Nature Reserve. Great fun for all ages! Wear footwear with good grip that you don’t mind getting wet. Meet at Lifeguard’s Hut at Coldingham Sands.
